Abstract:
Leaf traits and chemicals from tree species in the Main Experimental sites, including secondary compound (total phenolic and tannin concentrations) and information on stomata.
Design:
Leaf samples were taken from sun-exposed branches with an expandable pruner. Only completely developed leaves were sampled, without visible herbivore damage and preferably free of leaf fungi. CAUTION: It seems that there has been a systematic error (maybe in the methodology?) in assessing some specific leaf traits (e.g. SLA) between the samples collected by W.Kröber and D.Eichenberg. Please bare this in mind!
