Abstract:
The measurements for this piece of data were taken between 2012.08.28 and 2012.11.15. Measured was every piece of wood (most of the times that had been tree stubs) which scope had been bigger than 14 cm in a sub plot in all VIP on both sites. The sub plot was defined as the inner square that is stretched by the planted trees of positions: 06:06, 06:14, 14:06 and 14:14,which is approximately a square with a side length of 10.4 meters. Every piece of wood was categorised into one of 6 DC (decomposition classes). Also the size of the wood had been measured. The position of the wood had been noted, as a position in a coordination system which was stretched by the trees. Besides I noted the species of the stub if possible. Most of the times this was easy because most of the trees had been either Pinus massoniana or Cunninghamia lanceolata. In case the tree stub re sprouted I took samples of the leaves to determine the species later. Further other variables had been noted e.g. fungi bodies present/ absent. Roughly half of the data had been taking by Chinese workers. Also for every DC two wood samples (one with a scope over 63 cm and one witch a scope under 63 cm) had been taken, if these DC with the sizes existed. A hole was drilled with the length of the radius of the stub. The actual depth of the hole was measured. The saw dust was collected and dried at 60 degree celsius. With the weight and the calculated volume of the hole the wood density was measured. The measurements were taken to match topographic and biotic parameters to decomposition classes. Furthermore, with the data it is possible to get an approximation of the amount of wood that had been left over after exploitation. Also it was intended to repeat the measurements to obtain chronological coarse woody debris (CWD) decomposition approximations for the experimental study sites.
Design:
Measured was every piece of wood (most of the times that had been tree stubs) which scope had been bigger than 14 cm in a sub plot in all VIP on both sites. The sub plot was defined as the inner square that is stretched by the planted trees of positions: 06:06, 06:14, 14:06 and 14:14,which is approximately a square with a side length of 10.4 meters. Also for every DC two wood samples (one with a scope over 63 cm and one witch a scope under 63 cm) had been taken, if these DC with the sizes existed. For sampling always the first stub that did accure on the plot were chosen.

A hole was drilled with the length of the radius of the stub. The actual depth of the hole was measured. The saw dust was collected and dried at 60 degree celsius. With the weight and the calculated volume of the hole the wood density was measured in two ways. The Density was measured in to ways in the assumption that the hole is shaped like a conus or as a cylinder. The fromula for them was: Conus = depth of the hole*radius of the driller^2*pi Cylinder= ((depth of the hole*pi)/3) * (radius of the hole ^2 + radius of the driller* radius of the hole + radius of the driller^2) As unit for the density g/cm^3 was used. density = g/cm
